SOLAR CAR BREAKFAST TO THANK SPONSORS, PREVIEW EXCYTOR

AMES, Iowa -- Team PrISUm's new solar car, ExCYtor, will be the guest of honor at a breakfast Friday, June 6, 8 to 11 a.m., at the solar car garage in old Sweeney Hall on the Iowa State University campus. "Breakfast with Champions" is being held to preview the car for ISU faculty and staff, and to thank the many people and organizations that have supported Team PrISUm during the two years they've designed and built the car.

"We are fortunate to get so many contributions from people and organizations in Iowa and all around the country," said Beth Hunter, Team PrISUm director. "Without this support there's no way we would've been able to build this car and get it ready to race."

Iowa State students are finishing repairs on the bright yellow car, and will try again to qualify for Sunrayce 97. Sunrayce is a biennial solar car race, which will begin in Indianapolis, June 19, and end in Colorado Springs, Colo., June 28.

Team PrISUm will complete work on the car by June 9 and then test it on roads around Ames. They will leave for Indianapolis on June 12 and take part in qualifiers June 15- 17. Twenty-four teams have already qualified for Sunrayce 97, leaving 32 teams vying for the remaining 16 slots.
