REGENTS APPROVE PLANS FOR ISU COLLEGE OF DESIGN ADDITION

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The design and budget for a significant addition to Iowa State University's College of Design has been approved by the State Board of Regents.

At a meeting Thursday (Oct. 16), the regents approved the schematic design and budget for a planned $3 million addition designed by Baldwin White Architects, Des Moines. The addition will bring much needed physical and technological improvements to the college, said Mark Engelbrecht, dean of the College of Design. The addition will be on the southeast wall of the existing building and will face campus.

Features of the project include:

"The building expansion is an important part of our effort to center the college with the rest of the university," Engelbrecht said. "The auditorium and upgraded atrium will bring new life to the building and provide facilities the whole campus can use."
