ISU NAMES INTERIM DEAN OF FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES COLLEGE

AMES, Iowa -- Dianne C. Draper, associate dean for research and graduate education in Iowa State University's College of Family and Consumer Sciences, has been named interim dean of the college. The appointment began July 1.

Draper succeeds Beverly J. Crabtree who stepped down as dean June 30. Crabtree will return to the faculty in the family and consumer sciences education and studies department.

Draper joined ISU in 1971 as an assistant professor in the child development department (now human development and family studies). She is currently a professor of human development and family studies and assistant director of the Iowa Agriculture & Home Economics Experiment Station. Draper has served as head of the department of child development (1988-90) and chair of the department of human development and family studies (1990-93).

Prior to coming to Iowa State, Draper was a visiting professor at the University of Missouri, Columbia. She also served as a research director at Fulton State Hospital, Fulton, Missouri, and a research associate for the Missouri Regional Medical Program. Draper was also a research associate in Iowa State's College of Veterinary Medicine.

Draper received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Denison University, Granville, Ohio, and a master's and doctorate degree in psychology from the University of Missouri, Columbia.

A search for a permanent dean of the college is currently being conducted.
