GRAMMY WINNING HENRY ROLLINS BRINGS SPEAKING TOUR TO ISU

AMES, Iowa -- Grammy Award-winning Henry Rollins will bring his spoken word tour to Iowa State University on Saturday, Oct. 4. Rollins will perform in C.Y. Stephens Auditorium at 8 p.m.

Rollins' performances carry strong anti-drug and alcohol messages and are described as "part storytelling, part social commentary, part spontaneous combustion." He has been doing spoken word performances for 15 years.

Rollins is lead singer with the Rollins Band and was formerly lead singer with Black Flag, a Los Angeles punk band. He has written 11 books, recorded nine albums with the Rollins Band and eight spoken word albums. Rollins won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album, "Get in the Van: On the Road with Black Flag." He also has earned a Grammy for best metal performance for the song "Liar."

Rollins appearance at Iowa State is free and open to the public.
