ISU HOSTS BUSINESS CONFERENCE FOR YOUNG WOMEN

AMES, Iowa -- Young women in high school will have the chance to explore careers in business at a conference at Iowa State University on Thursday, April 30.

The conference, "Exploring Opportunities for Our Future," will highlight careers in accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, management, management information systems, marketing and transportation/logistics. Students in grades 9- 12 will have a chance to interact with area businesswomen.

Conference speakers will talk about their careers, past educational and work experiences and present job responsibilities. There will also be a session on developing personal strategic plans.

Conference speakers include Sally Matheson, Maytag; Phyllis Fevold, Firstar; Vanessa Blythe, Cargill; Jacqueline Holm, Iowa State Fair; Tracy Fornwalt, Tone's/Burns Philips; Mary Dubas, Principal; and Kendra Somes, Younkers.

The conference will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union at ISU. The registration fee for students who register by Friday, April 10, is $14. After April 14, the cost is $16. The registration fee includes instructional materials, lunch and refreshments. Last year's conference attracted 140 students.
