ISU's CATT CENTER CHOSEN FOR NATIONAL LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University's Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics will receive a $10,000 grant to create a leadership development program in association with Rutgers University.

The Catt Center has been chosen as a participant in the NEW Leadership Development Network. The Center for the American Woman and Politics at Rutgers University, New Jersey, created the NEW Leadership program to educate and empower the next generation of women leaders in politics, public policy, government and public service. With a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the program will be extended to the Catt Center and two other partners.

Catt Center staff will attend a NEW Leadership training session and then develop a NEW Leadership program for the Catt Center.

"We are excited to be selected as one of three partner programs to develop a NEW Leadership Program," said Dianne Bystrom, director. "We are looking at utilizing the training and support to expand our summer workshops for high school students or enhance our leadership development programs for women in college."
