STUDENT-CREATED FASHIONS ON DISPLAY AT ISU

AMES, Iowa -- Showcase '98, a fashion exhibition by students in Iowa State University's textiles and clothing department, will be Thursday, Feb. 19, from 3 to 5 p.m. in LeBaron Hall Lounge on the ISU campus.

This year's showcase includes entries in eight categories: apparel, wearable art, fashion illustration, portfolio, poster, technical-functional design, problem-solving exercise and textiles and cloting department visual.

"This event is a wonderful way to show off the many talents of our students," said Jane Farrell-Beck, a professor in textiles and clothing and coordinator of Showcase '98. "This year's entries are truly spectacular."

During the show, guests can vote for five people's choice awards in four categories: best of show (a first and second place will be awarded), apparel/wearable art, fashion illustration/portfolio and poster/presentation board.

The program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served during the exhibit.
