COLLEGE QUESTIONS ANSWERED OVER THE PHONE

AMES, Iowa--A college information hotline will help prospective students find answers to admissions and financial aid questions on Sunday, Feb. 1.

College financial aid and admission professionals have organized a state-wide college information hotline to answer questions students and families have about higher education. The hotline will be open on Sunday, Feb. 1, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Volunteers from the Iowa Association of Financial Aid Administrators and the Iowa Association for College Admission Counseling will field the calls.

The hotline's toll-free number is 1-800-383-4222.

This will be the sixth year the hotline service has been available. Over the past five years, 450 calls per year have been answered by the volunteers.

"With college costs continuing to rise, we want to provide information to people that shows them not only that higher education is affordable, it is also worth the investment. The hotline will provide critical information on admissions and financial aid to assist them in their pursuit," said Roberta Johnson, assistant director of financial aid at Iowa State University.
