WELL-KNOWN EXECUTIVE TO SPEAK AT IOWA FAMILY BUSINESS
FORUM JAN. 6
AMES, Iowa -- David Weinberg, the former co-chairperson of Fel-Pro, an Illinois-based firm with more than 2,000 employees, will address the Iowa Family Business Forum in Des Moines on Jan. 6.
The Iowa Family Business Forums are a service of the Iowa Small Business Development Center, an arm of Iowa State University's College of Business. The forum will be at the Des Moines Club, 666 Grand Ave., Des Moines, from 12:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. Cost for the event is $249 per family.
Weinberg has been profiled in such noted business periodicals as "Fortune," "Newsweek," and "The Wall Street Journal." "Fortune" magazine also rated Fel-Pro as one of the four best companies to work for in the United States during Weinberg's tenure.
Weinberg is now president of David A. Weinberg, LLC, a firm specializing in advising small businesses, based in Chicago, Ill.
Weinberg will speak on topics such as:
- How creating a great place to work translates to greater
productivity, higher retention rates, stronger employee
loyalty, and enhanced profits.
- What it was like to co-chair this successful Illinois
family business and the issues surrounding the decision
to sell the 80-year-old family business. Fel-Pro is a
multi-divisional manufacturer and world-wide marketer of
parts for internal combustion engines, and specialty
lubricants, sealants and adhesives.
- How to use measurement tools to ensure a family-owned
business is on the "right track."
