ISU STUDENT GROUP HELPS EXPECTANT MOTHERS

AMES, Iowa-- In observance of World Health Day, April 7, Iowa State University's Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) will deliver "care packages" to ISU students who give birth during the first two weeks of April.

The project's goal is to establish community and campus awareness about the importance of maternal and infant health and to support efforts to improve the quality of services in this area.

A booth displaying information about safe motherhood will be sponsored by SHAC and the Iowa State Student Health Center in the Memorial Union on Tuesday, April 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The World Health Organization has observed April 7 as World Health Day for 48 years and this year it will address the theme "Invest in the Future: Support Safe Motherhood."
