MARCH 12 DEADLINE FOR ISU BRANSTAD EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

AMES, Iowa -- Students planning to major in education at Iowa State University are encouraged to apply for the newly-created Branstad Education Scholarship by March 12.

The scholarship, administered by the College of Education, will be initiated Fall 1999. Designed for students with outstanding leadership potential who are committed to a teaching career in Iowa, the scholarship covers tuition and fees for four years in a teacher preparation program at Iowa State University.

The scholarship will be awarded based on academic achievements, enthusiasm for teaching, commitment to a teaching career in Iowa, involvement in extra-curricular activities, and promise of leadership ability to make a significant contribution to society as a teacher.

Applications for the Branstad Scholarship are available at Iowa high schools, in ISU County Extension offices, or from the College of Education, E-105 Lagomarcino Hall, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, 50011. An online application can be found at http://www.educ.iastate.edu, the college's web site.
