RESEARCH DIRECTORS FROM 1890 COLLEGES TO VISIT CAMPUS

AMES, Iowa -- Agricultural research leaders from the 17 historically black land-grant colleges will meet at Iowa State University July 6-9.

The Association of Research Directors accepted an invitation from Iowa State's College of Agriculture to hold its regular summer meeting here, marking the first time the group will meet on a campus other than that of a historically black land-grant college. ISU President Martin Jischke will welcome the group at a dinner in the Food Sciences courtyard on July 6.

Besides holding business meetings, the group will tour research centers on campus; visit Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc., and the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology; and discuss with ISU faculty and administrators possible research partnerships, student/faculty exchanges and other activities to strengthen relationships.

The historically black land-grant colleges are: Alabama A&M University, Normal; Tuskegee University, Tuskegee, Ala.; University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, Pine Bluff; Delaware State University, Dover; Florida A&M University, Tallahassee; Fort Valley State University, Fort Valley, Ga.; Kentucky State University, Frankfort; Southern University and A&M College, Baton Rouge, La.; University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Princess Anne, Md.; Alcorn State University, Alcorn State, Mass.; Lincoln University, Jefferson City, Mo.; North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro; Langston University, Langston, Okla.; South Carolina State University, Orangeburg; Tennessee State University, Nashville; Prairie View A&M University, Prairie View, Tex.; and Virginia State University, Petersburg.
