TEAM PRISUM MEMBERS REACH OUT TO SCIENCE BOUND STUDENTS

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State's solar car team members will help a group of 20 eighth and ninth grade Science Bound students assemble and race small solar cars as part of an outreach project Nov. 6.

The students will build the mini-solar cars in Coover Hall's new Active Learning Complex from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. They will then race the cars outside near Coover Hall. The public is invited to come and watch the races, said Team PrISUm member Erin Isvik.

Science Bound works to increase the involvement of 8th to 12th grade Des Moines public school minority students in science and math. Students who successfully complete the program and pursue a technical degree at Iowa State receive a full tuition scholarship. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Science Bound program.
