ENTREPRENEUR RADIO PROGRAM TO BROADCAST LIVE FROM ISU

AMES, Iowa – The syndicated, nationally broadcast radio program "Entrepreneurs! Living the American Dream with Richard Tavener" will originate live from the lobby of Iowa State University’s Carver Hall from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 1.

ISU’s Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship, Iowa Small Business Development Center and ISU College of Business organized the broadcast. The radio program will interview four Iowa entrepreneurs: John Pappajohn, CEO of Pappajohn Capital Resources/Equity Dynamics, Inc., Des Moines; Matthew Rizai, CEO of Engineering Animation, Inc. (EAI), Ames; Tom Cardella, founder of Access Direct Telemarketing Services, Inc., Cedar Rapids; and Sunnie Richer, president of Doextra, Des Moines.

KASI 1430 AM radio, Ames, will broadcast the ISU show locally by tape delay on Sunday, Nov. 7, at 3 p.m. Audience members may meet the featured entrepreneurs following the broadcast.

Pappajohn has served on the board of directors of more than 40 public companies and many private firms. He was named Iowa Business Leader of the Year in 1992 and entered

the Iowa Business Hall of Fame in 1996. He has invested more than $5 million in entrepreneur centers in Iowa.

Rizai helps lead EAI's worldwide software division from its Ames headquarters. He was named one of "Business Week’s" Best Entrepreneurs of the Year in 1997 and Iowa Business Leader of the Year in 1997.

Cardella started Access Direct in 1995. Today, with 700 employees and annual sales in excess of $20 million, it is one of the nation’s fastest growing firms. He was awarded the 1999 VII SBA Entrepreneurial Success Award for the states of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

Richer is the founder and president of Doextra Corporation, a provider of software customer relations programming. She has been active on the board of directors of the United Way of Central Iowa, the Greater Des Moines Chamber of Commerce Federation, the Des Moines International Airport and Simpson College.

The radio program’s mission is to document and celebrate the state of entrepreneurship in America at the end of the 20th Century through the stories of successful entrepreneurs. It is distributed by Radio America Network. The show will be webcast on the Internet through broadcast.com.

The show’s "Tour of America" is for 100 days, visiting 46 different cities from Sept. 23 to Dec. 31. It is estimated that 300 to 340 U.S. entrepreneurs will be interviewed during the tour. Fourteen universities are participating in the program’s tour.
