PEASE FAMILY SCHOLAR LECTURE IS OCT. 8

AMES, Iowa -- George Sage, a noted scholar of sociology of sports, is the fall Pease Family Scholar. He will speak at 3:45 p.m., Friday, Oct. 8, in Room 291 of the Forker Building.

Sage, a recently retired faculty member at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, Colo., will talk on "Justice! – Do It Nike: The Nike Transnational Social Movement – Origins, Organizational Dynamics, and Outcomes."

While on campus, Sage will visit Iowa State sociology of sports classes (which use Sage’s textbook) and work with graduate students in the program.

The Pease Family Scholar Fund was created in memory of Harvey and Bomell Pease, who lived in Newport Beach, Calif. They died in 1990 and 1991, respectively. The endowment was established in 1991 by their son, the late Dr. Dean A. Pease, and his wife, Sally, to bring visiting scholars to campus. Dean Pease chaired Iowa State’s department of health and human performance (HHP) from 1987 to 1990.

For more information, contact Jerry Thomas, chair of HHP, at (515) 294-1425.
