IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY TO HOST
"SHAPING YOUR VETERINARY FUTURE"

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University will host a two-day seminar on veterinary practice management on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 20-21, in the F.K. Ramsey Alumni Conference Room, College of Veterinary Medicine.

The seminar, "Shaping Your Veterinary Future," is the second of three business strategy sessions presented by ISU’s College of Veterinary Medicine, College of Business, Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship, and Iowa Small Business Development Center.

Donald Draper, university professor of biomedical sciences at ISU’s College of Veterinary Medicine, said the seminars are specifically designed for veterinarians who are already successful and who want to position their practices to remain at the forefront of the industry.

"This one-of-a-kind program focuses exclusively on the business aspects of large and production animal practices," Draper said. "Topics include business planning, financial analysis, personnel management, marketing and strategic plan implementation."

On Wednesday, Oct. 20, participants will learn about financial analysis specifically for veterinary organizations and price and fee structures. On Thursday, Oct. 21, attendees will study environmental analysis/future trends in veterinary medicine, performance measurement tools, marketing and sales, and how to implement one-on-one marketing techniques to veterinary practices.
