RECOGNITION RECEPTION TO BE SEPT. 24

AMES, Iowa -- The Iowa State University College of Family and Consumer Sciences has awarded more than $361,000 in graduate and undergraduate scholarships to 229 students for 1999-2000. This is an increase of more than $92,000 from 1998-99 when 201 students received college and departmental scholarships.

Also, 10 CFCS students were awarded $28,950 in scholarships from national associations.

Scholarship recipients and donors will be recognized at the annual FCS Scholarship Recognition Reception on Friday, Sept. 24, in the Sun Room, Memorial Union. Registration and refreshments will start at 4 p.m. and the program at 4:30 p.m.

Funding for the college scholarships comes from the CFCS Development Fund, which receives contributions from alumni and businesses as well as other friends of the college.

"We are very pleased to be able to present scholarships to so many of our outstanding students," Dean Carol Meeks said. "The generosity and loyalty of our alumni make it possible to award scholarships to these students."
