ISU K-12 FOREIGN LANGUAGE RESOURCE CENTER RECEIVES GRANT

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University's National K-12 Foreign Language Center has received a grant from the U.S. Department of Education that will provide nearly $924,000 during the next three years. The funds will be used to support the center's efforts to improve foreign language instruction in elementary and secondary schools.

Since being established in 1994, the center has provided professional preparation to 383 foreign language teachers form 48 states at summer institutes.

The center is a collaboration of ISU's College of Education's Curriculum and Instruction and Foreign Languages and Literature departments, the Center for Applied Linguistics in Washington, D.C., and nationally-recognized leaders in K-12 foreign language education in school districts, colleges and universities.
