U.S. News releases latest graduate school rankings; Iowa State’s ag engineering ranked 4th

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State University’s graduate program in agriculture and biosystems engineering continues to be a national leader, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report graduate school rankings released today.

The program ranks fourth overall and fourth among public universities, according to the magazine’s 2014 rankings.

Other highly ranked graduate programs on the Iowa State campus include statistics, many engineering disciplines and chemistry. Iowa State is among the top 25 public universities in 12 of the magazine’s college and department rankings.

The magazine says it analyzed more than 1,300 graduate programs to compile the rankings. Every year, the magazine publishes new rankings for some disciplines and older rankings for others.

Here are Iowa State’s numbers:

Schools of Engineering, 46th overall (25th among public universities)

  • Biological/Agricultural Engineering, fourth overall (and fourth among public schools)
  • Industrial/Manufacturing/Systems Engineering, 25th overall (16th among public schools)
  • Aerospace/Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering, 26th overall (18th among public schools)
  • Materials Engineering, 29th overall (17th among public schools)
  • Chemical Engineering, 31st overall (18th among public schools)
  • Civil Engineering, 31st overall (20th among public schools)
