AMES, Iowa -- NASA will be there.
So will John Deere, 3M and the Mayo Clinic. IBM and Microsoft will join them. You'll also find Wells' Dairy from Le Mars and the Iowa Department of Transportation from Ames. Another 221 companies from across the state and the country will show up, too.
The annual Engineers' Week Career Fair at Iowa State University is where you'll find Iowa State students JoHannah Tripp-Rieks and Kelsey Hedge as well.
The career fair will be 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, in Iowa State's Hilton Coliseum. The fair is billed as the largest indoor engineering career fair in the U.S. It's free to interested students.
As many as 5,000 students from around campus and the region are expected to visit with as many as 850 recruiters.
Tripp-Rieks and Hedge are co-chairs of the career fair's organizing committee. They said all the plans and details are just about set for the fair. It's a good thing, too.
Tripp-Rieks -- a senior from Cedar Falls who's studying industrial engineering -- is looking for an internship.
And Hedge -- a senior from Ottumwa who's studying industrial engineering -- is looking for a full-time job.
So, they'll be busy helping run the fair. And they'll be busy talking to companies. Hedge said she hoped to talk with recruiters from as many as 10 companies.
And when the students meet the recruiters, the two can impress them by explaining why they agreed to lead the planning for such a big event.
"I thought it would be a fun challenge to do this, but we knew we could do it," Tripp-Rieks said. "It's a good thing to get involved with and it's a way to get more experience. We love to plan things and get things organized."
