AMES, Iowa - Barry Scheck, best known as the DNA expert on the O.J. Simpson defense team, will give a lecture at Iowa State University titled "The Innocence Project: DNA and the Wrongly Convicted" at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3 in the Sun Room, Memorial Union. The event is free and open to the public.
The lecture will focus on forensic applications of DNA technology.
Scheck has worked on several other high-profile cases such as the Louise Woodward "nanny murder" case and the Abner Louima sexual assault case.
Scheck has also co-authored the book "Actual Innocence: Five Days to Execution and Other Dispatches from the Wrongly Convicted," in which he exposes the mishandling of evidence and interrogation techniques that hinder the legal process.
A professor of law and director of the Innocence Project at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University, New York City, Scheck also serves as commissioner on New York's Forensic Science Review Board.
