Pulitzer Prize winner Susan Faludi to speak at ISU Nov. 12

AMES, Iowa - Susan Faludi, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of "Backlash: The Undeclared War Against American Women," will present the women's studies program 30th anniversary keynote address at Iowa State University on Monday, Nov. 12. Her talk, "Fear and Fantasy in Post-9/11 America," will be at 8 p.m. in the Memorial Union Sun Room. A reception and book signing will follow. All events are free and open to the public.

Faludi is a former reporter for The Wall Street Journal where she won the 1991 Pulitzer Prize for labor reporting. Her book, "Backlash: The Undeclared War against American Women" won the 1992 National Book Critics Circle Award for Nonfiction. She also is the author of "Stiffed: The Betrayal of the American Man."

Faludi's new book, "The Terror Dream," looks at the post-9/11 outpourings in the media and popular culture, and examines how America's fear of home-soil terrorism has been the foundation of first one war and then another.

The reception and book signing are hosted by the women's studies program.
