Student veterans with financial need may qualify for ISU Veterans Grant

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University has allocated $100,000 for the ISU Veterans Grant, a new program the Office of Student Financial Aid hopes will help supplement existing GI Bill benefits.

The grant will provide up to $1,000 per semester for students whose veteran status is confirmed by the Office of the Registrar. Preference will be given to students whose veteran status is confirmed by Jan. 2, 2009. Awards will continue to be made as long as funding is available.

ISU student veterans who are already receiving benefits will automatically be considered for awards. No additional application is required.

Veterans who are not currently receiving benefits will need to provide a copy of their DD214 to the VA clerks in the Office of the Registrar, 214 Enrollment Services Center. Forms may be faxed to (515) 294-1088.

Students who are selected to receive an ISU Veterans Grant award will be notified by mail.
