AMES, Iowa -- The relationship between Iowa State University and Malaysian universities -- INTI University College and Taylor's University College -- has spanned more than 25 years. Currently, an average of 30 students per year transfer from the two Malaysian universities to Iowa State.
Taylor's University College vice chancellor Hassan Said and President Gregory Geoffroy sign a commitment agreement.
During a Nov. 11 visit to Kuala Lumpur, ISU President Gregory Geoffroy strengthened ISU links with the two universities by signing new commitment agreements, helping to inaugurate the Malaysia ISU Alumni Society, and announcing a new scholarship program for international students.
The "Presidential Award for International Transfer Excellence" scholarship is designed to assist students from international partner institutions to continue study at Iowa State. Up to 10 of the $7,000 tuition scholarships will be awarded each year.
Geoffroy is on a 10-day visit to Asia to recognize and strengthen ISU's overseas recruiting and alumni connections. He is making stops in Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Republic of China (Taiwan).
