Henry Rollins performs free at Iowa State Sept. 18

AMES, Iowa -- Henry Rollins, known as a post-punk renaissance man, will launch his new Recountdown Tour, an election-time talking show, at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, in Stephens Auditorium at Iowa State University. The performance is free and open to the public. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Formerly with the punk rock band Black Flag, Rollins is a singer with the Rollins Band. He also is a published poet and author, a movie and TV actor, and host of a weekly radio show and a television talk show. Rollins won a Grammy Award for his spoken-word performance for "Get in the Van: On the Road with Black Flag," the same year (1994) he was nominated for Best Heavy Metal Performance for "Liar."

Rollins' performance is co-sponsored by the Student Union Board and the Committee on Lectures, which is funded by the Government of the Student Body.
