Body discovered in university apartment; no foul play suspected

The Iowa State University Police Division is investigating the death of a male student who was found late yesterday in his on-campus apartment. At 9:16 p.m. on July 20, 2010, police were asked to conduct a welfare check at the decedent's residence. Upon arrival, officers discovered the man's body inside his locked apartment; no one else was present.

The man has been identified as Lucas Rueben Farlinger, 22, of 172 B University Village. Farlinger was a senior from St. Ansgar, majoring in management information systems at Iowa State.

At this time, there is no evidence of foul play. The Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. The Ames Police Department and the Iowa DCI assisted in the investigation.
