Recycling sights and sounds

At Iowa State's College of Design, recycling is an interactive art form. Throughout the semester, thirsty students stuff thousands of empty pop bottles and cans into a four-story wire and mesh tube that hangs in the atrium. It's a visual reminder of consumption and the need to recycle, says senior Keihly Moore. On Friday, she and members of ISU's Architecture for Humanity chapter emptied the sock, unleashing an abundance of sound and a round of applause. The group collects the cash-back booty for use in service projects.
