Graduating senior Behnia Rezazadeh Shirazi hopes to use biotechnology to tackle big problems

Behnia Rezazadeh Shirazi and his parents immigrated to the U.S. from Iran in 2016. Both of his parents are physics professors, so education was always important. But when researching where to go to college, Shirazi didn't know where he could afford to go. One night, he saw a commercial for Iowa State and decided to look into it. It led him to Ames where his love of biology eventually pushed him to pursue 3 degrees in the field. Shirazi hopes to use applied research to eventually solve some of the biggest problems in the biotechnology field. *This interview was shot following physical distancing guidelines, and with the interviewers wearing masks
