Athletic training in a pandemic

Keeping athletes healthy is always a difficult job. But the challenges have only increased as the COVID-19 pandemic has made close contact with patients more difficult. The work and training must continue, however, and that’s exactly what’s happening in Vic Miller’s Evaluation Methods & Treatment Techniques-Upper Body class in the newly renovated Forker Building lab. Students are not only taught how to assess patients’ orthopedic conditions, they are also taught how to do these evaluations while minimizing COVID risks. While many classes at Iowa State have moved online when possible, this class is an example of a class that is meeting in-person while still limiting risks for students and professors. *This interview was shot following physical distancing guidelines, and with the interviewers wearing masks.
