  • 2020 Year in Review

    The COVID-19 pandemic certainly dominated the headlines this year, but looking back on 2020 there are several good stories and accomplishments to share. 

  • New curriculum guides communities on engaging with youth

    An Iowa State University project to involve Des Moines youth in discussions of what their communities need has turned into an easy-to-use curriculum for communities anywhere to implement. The Design Dialogues curriculum is now available for free and for all through ISU Extension and Outreach.

  • ISU experts available to answer questions about vaccine safety, history, resistance

    The Food and Drug Administration granted emergency use authorization for the first of several COVID-19 vaccines seeking its approval. As distribution begins, Iowa State University experts are available to comment on the safety of the vaccine, the history of such rollouts and the reason some people may refuse to get vaccinated. 

  • Report: U.S. trails other countries in building macro grids for moving, sharing electricity

    Countries around the world are way ahead of the United States in building "macro grids" capable of moving electricity across grids or regions, according to a new report by an Iowa State engineer and a former doctoral student. The major benefits of macro grids include cost-reductions, economic development, improved reliability, enhanced adaptability, higher use of renewable energy such as wind power and lower costs for reducing emissions.

  • Six Iowa State researchers named AAAS Fellows for advancing science

    The American Association for the Advancement of Science named its latest class of AAAS Fellows today, including six Iowa State researchers working in engineering, math and biological sciences. AAAS is the world's largest scientific society and publisher of the journal Science. Its mission is to "advance science and serve society."

  • Making sense of a universe of corn genetics

    A new study details the latest efforts to predict traits in corn based on genomics and data analytics. The data management technique could help to “turbo charge” the seemingly endless amount of genetic stocks contained in the world’s seed banks, leading to faster and more efficient development of new crop varieties.

  • After trauma early in college career, Iowa State senior is thankful for graduation

    Sarah Bartlett’s college career at Iowa State University began with a series of traumatic events. Despite the pain and stress, Bartlett refused to give up on her education and will now graduate next weekend with degrees in anthropology, classical studies and political science.

    Iowa State is ranked 11th in The Princeton Review’s 15th annual survey of undergraduate schools for entrepreneurship studies. That’s up from 26th in the 2020 rankings.

A new Iowa State University study illustrates how businesses can still maintain and build those relationships using online social networks. Researchers say the concept is not new, but the COVID-19 pandemic has made it more relevant.
