Student killed in apparent hit-and-run

ISU student Kelly Jean Laughery, 20, died early Dec. 3 of injuries sustained when she was struck in an apparent hit-and-run accident on Mortensen Road. Police believe the vehicle involved was significantly damaged, especially along the front and right front passenger side. Persons with information related to the investigation are asked to contact ISU Police at (515) 294-4428.

New risk assessment course among the first

Iowa State is among the first in the nation to offer a course in risk assessment for the biological sciences. The course teaches students how to interpret the risk of adverse incidents in such situations as transgenic contamination, the occurrence of salmonella in food and other agricultural or biological situations.

Students leading Veishea 2006 plans have announced that "Celebrate Iowa State" is the theme for next year's event, set for April 21-23.
